Lie, Divide and Rule

Rooting for Real Farms Series

Will Devlin, holder of a Green Michelin Star for his exceptional commitment to sustainability, runs The Small Holding restaurant in Kent. There is no formal menu, instead dishes are created from seasonal ingredients produced at the on-site farm, from local suppliers or foraged locally. The pork is sourced locally from Tom Cunningham, who runs The Pure Meat Company. Tom keeps rare-breed Tamworth pigs that graze, root and forage outdoors, producing top quality, slowly raised meat. Will & Tom are both #RootingForRealFarms by supporting local high welfare farmers, suppliers and producers. Please give their video a like and a share:

Lie, Divide and Rule

The Ukrainian conflict, impacting the entire world, not least, innocent civilians, global food security, mass movement of people, farmers and even pig farmers, can be resolved with citizen pressure. But first we must decipher between what is the truth and what is propaganda.

Letters from horrified friends;

In a small but significant way, our polarised views on the war, played out in the responses from my last newsletter; 16 letters from readers who were appreciative to hear the censored narrative and 5 were utterly disgusted. Typical horrified friends said;

“You’re a disgrace Tracy. Either stupid or vain or both. Read your history.”

Another said;

“Stick to farming. You discredit all your very good and valuable work with this kind of drivel;”

I sent a couple this Economist article by political scientist, Professor John Meansheimer, on why the West is principally responsible for the Ukrainian crisis; she replied;

“He’s a lone voice. Actually there are a few others that can be relied on to always come up with a provocative take and spout conspiracy theories. I don’t think this is the time to grandstand or try to be interesting and original. Please don’t send me pro Putin propaganda ever again. Your repulsive email made me feel ?”

I replied;

“He’s a lone voice because you are not prepared to read outside of the mainstream media. There is a real danger when a free press is replaced by corporate media that stifles and censors dissent. We now have a Ministry of Propaganda that acts as an echo chamber for the latest diktats from 10 Downing Street and the White House. The systematic creation of false narratives by corporate media, designed to serve the purposes of the government, have so misinformed the public about world events that it prepares those who have metaphorically swallowed the blue pill to follow the dictates of our authorities to support a war with Russia. I won’t send you anything more but feel free to send me whatever inspires you but it would be good to not be rude.”

Letters from appreciative friends

These are a sample of the letters from those who were interested in the counter mainstream media narrative;

“Thank you for your excellent comments and links about US/NATO aggression in Ukraine”; “Well said, Tracy!; An amazing read. It may be a bit hackneyed, and you may know the phrase: the first casualty of war is ‘truth’”; “Just wanted to say how brave you are to put your thoughts & feelings about war & half-truths in writing”; “Great newsletter…..you truly are awake to everything that is happening in the world past and present!! :)”; “I couldn’t agree more with your analysis and you are listening to all the people who I also respect – Caitlin Johnstone, Jimmy Dore, Aaron Mate, Scott Ritter, (links added by TW) etc … so few people are aware of these facts … so glad to be in touch with a few people who are not just captured by the knee jerk brainwashing of our state propaganda outfits – there aren’t nearly enough of us though, sadly … terrifying times …”; “brilliant newsletter Tracy thank you; I have long been convinced of media lies and very used to being called a ‘red’ or communist should I dare to question the bullshit and propaganda we are so often fed”.

Orwellian Ministry of Truth

The lies peddled by the mainstream media to promote establishment and corporate interests and undermine democracy, were perfected in the 1950s by Edward Bernays who developed his uncle Sigmund Freud’s work to surreptitiously control citizens’ minds. Edward Bernays and Group Psychology: Manipulating the Masses;

Edward Bernays wrote ; “The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organised habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in a democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country… We are governed, our minds are moulded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of.”

‘In the modern day there appears to be forces operating through the mainstream media and popular culture, which are attempting to increase the individual’s proclivity to engage in certain types of group identification; namely identifications that divide the population into conflicting groups. This phenomenon has potential dire consequences for both the stability and freedom of a society as it allows those in power to institute the age-old tactic of divide and conquer.”

“Each group considers its own standards ultimate and indisputable, and tends to dismiss all contrary or different standards as indefensible” (Crystallising Public Opinion, Edward Bernays).

Authorities lie

’The epidemic of lies today are confirmed in the words of leaders like William Casey, former head of the CIA, who in 1981 said;

“We’ll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false.”

Fired former White House National Security Adviser John Bolton admitted in a 2010 interview that he would “absolutely” lie to the public if necessary.

‘“A diplomat is a statesman sent out to lie for his country,” the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations said before touting his own ability to “spin” information without technically lying.’

‘“I want to make the case for secrecy in government when it comes to the conduct of national security affairs and possibly for deception where it’s appropriate,” Bolton responded. He then approvingly quoted Winston Churchill’s assertion that “truth is so important it should be surrounded by a bodyguard of lies.”’

So Called Democracy

We invade countries to enforce the ‘democracy’ enjoyed by the so-called free world even though the ideologies held by the two main political parties are fundamentally the same. Both facilitate their corporate funder’s bidding; a centralised and global trading system, excessive consumerism for a growth economy on a finite planet, internal surveillance, financial speculation and never-ending wars to enforce US hegemony supported by a subordinate UK, EU and their mainstream media stenographers.

Manufacturing consent,

There is overwhelming pressure from friends and family to obey the establishment narrative, whether it be to have an experimental jab, to believe that Russia’s incursion into Ukraine was without provocation or Biden’s judgement that Putin is ‘a thug and murderous dictator’ and a ‘war criminal’ and that America isn’t funding secret biolabs in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian propaganda is so powerful and dangerous that the Pentagon has leaked two stories that expose the lies of mainstream media about how Russia is deliberately targeting conducting civilians in a bid to get NATO into the conflict.

Democracy can only begin to work properly when we realise that our authorities censor the truth by lying, persecuting, misrepresenting, smearing, jailing, and murdering its messengers; Julian Assange’s incarceration in Belmarsh jail for making public numerous US war crimes, the suspicious death of David Kelly for revealing that PM Tony Blair was lying about Sudam Hussain having weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and the murder of elected leaders who counter US world order.

US Empire

America and Europe have forced countries across the world to comply with their globe-spanning imperial project – see The Confessions of an Economic Hit Man by John Perkins;

‘Perkins describes what he calls a system of corporatocracy and greed as the driving forces behind establishing the United States as a global empire, in which he took a role as an “economic hit man” to expand its influence.”

“Economic hit men (EHMs) are highly paid professionals who cheat countries around the globe out of trillions of dollars. They funnel money from the World Bank, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and other foreign “aid” organisations into the coffers of huge corporations and the pockets of a few wealthy families who control the planet’s natural resources. Their tools included fraudulent financial reports, rigged elections, payoffs, extortion, sex, and murder. They play a game as old as empire, but one that has taken on new and terrifying dimensions during this time of globalisation.”

Corporate capitalism

Corporations’ growth strategy of continually grabbing land and resources across the globe is replacing labour with technology, chemicals and machines and expanding corporate power to sue governments through the ISDM (Inter State Dispute Mechanism) if they dare to raise their health, labour and environmental standards. As described by Global Justice Now

‘Recently two countries have publicly admitted that the fear of corporate courts has prevented them from setting the climate targets and taking the action needed. Ministers from Denmark and New Zealand said they’d done less at COP26 and chosen weaker climate targets because they are afraid of being sued under the Energy Charter Treaty or other corporate courts deals.

This is exactly what we anticipated might happen, and it is probably the tip of the iceberg. We are especially concerned that countries in the global south may be most vulnerable to threats from corporate courts.’

Impact on food and farming

In agriculture, corporations grow by syphoning profits from skilled small-scale family farmers and growers the world over. They introduce dangerous GM crops, promote junk food, build factory farms which overuse antibiotics, grow monoculture crops drenched in pesticide and artificial fertiliser, destroy biodiversity, bankrupt farmers and take their land forcing them to take starvation-wage work as labourers, and export what was once their food to distant markets.

Leader of the cabal of billionaires profiting from centralising and globalising agriculture and health, is technocrat Bill Gates who copied oil magnate John D.Rockefeller’s propaganda trick to transform himself from monopolist cheat to benign philanthro-capitalist. His alleged public good institutions including; Enabling business in Agriculture, Gates Ag One and The Alliance for the Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) have failed to improve the lives of anyone beyond Big Ag in which he is heavily invested.

The Censored Ukraine war Narrative

See Noam Chomsky’s analysis of US military expansion eastwards in violation of international agreements and this interview with Colonel Doug Macgregor, a former senior advisor to the U.S. Secretary of Defence. Both see Ukraine as just a pawn in the game of US hegemony – or worse, mere cannon fodder, how the war would have been averted if Ukraine had implemented the Minsk agreements, and discuss Moscow’s continued plea for Ukraine to; officially become a neutral country (as recommended by Henry Kissenger), renounce its bid to join NATO, the “demilitarisation” and “denazification” of Ukraine, and for Kiev to recognize Crimea as a part of Russia, and the republics in Donetsk (DPR) and Lugansk (LPR) as independent states.

Sections of Colonel Doug Macgregor’s talk; “At this point we have to conclude that there is a universal opposition to any peace arrangement that involves a recognition of any Russian success. In fact it looks more and more as though the Ukrainians are almost incidental to the operation in the sense that they are there to impale themselves on the Russian army and die in great numbers because the real goal of this entire thing is the destruction of the Russian state (my link) and Vladimir Putin…. Everyone has universally signed on for the Russian hate campaign or hatred for Russia Campaign and that seems to go on regardless of what is reported and frankly the absence of much truth and reporting is hard to overestimate or exaggerate.”

“He (Putin) has continued to negotiate even though he recognises that the people sitting across from him are not in a position to deliver very much. They are being told what to do, and it’s very obvious that Washington wants this to continue as long as possible in the hopes that Russia will be desperately harmed. I just don’t see that happening. This morning the latest polling data was given to me from Eastern Poland about Russia and 70% of the Russian population is firmly behind Vladimir Putin.”

“In Mariupol you have roughly 3,000 of these fanatical fighters in the Azov regiment, or battalion, who are refusing to allow any of the civilians in the city to leave. In fact I saw footage this morning of these Ukrainian Azov troops telling the population there you can’t leave even though the Russians had opened a corridor for humanitarian assistance and evacuation. Again these things are not reported in the West because it tends to damage the narrative.”

“We need to understand that this really is the uniparty, democrat versus republican labels are irrelevant; they are all responding to the same collection of donors. The donors want conflict, the donors enjoy conflict to enrich themselves (my link) as a result of the conflict and the donors grossly underestimate the dangers.”

“Putin saw a large troop build up in Eastern Ukraine approximately 60,000 troops that were poised to strike at the Donbas at Luhansk and Donetsk and I think he was persuaded that obviously the Donetsk and Lugansk Republics and their population would be destroyed and he could not sit by and tolerate that.”

“Remember that the Pershing 2 was a hypersonic missile, we are talking a few minutes, and it lands in Moscow. He kept telling people but no one would listen and there was no willingness to reassure him and his government in any way shape or form that this was not the intention. So I think he rightly concluded that he didn’t have much choice.”

Whether or not you agree with the Colonel’s words, we must ensure our politicians resolve the conflict by diplomacy; understanding how those on the other side of the table think and see things, what the other side wants and why – before the digital iron curtain descends across the internet. Instead the US is giving $14 billion that is  emboldening the hard-line nazi nationalists integrated into Zelensky’s military.

Global impact of war and sanctions

Food shortages and increased prices of oil and commodities, will cause misery to millions across the world who can’t afford the inflated cost of living. However, in the UK, as explained by Wickedleeks;

Sky-rocketing fertiliser prices due to the Ukraine-Russia war may prompt more British farmers to consider regenerative farming and move away from artificial inputs.

Sustain warns against the agri industrial lobbies’ demand to maximise industrial food production during these times of potential shortages.

‘The war in Ukraine is posing global challenges to food security and the cost of food and farm inputs. The UK Government needs to guard against short-term and harmful policy responses and stand firm on the Agricultural Transition Plan.’

Please donate

Forgive me for pointing out that, while we receive some one-off donations, I am funding Farms Not Factories myself, and if we are to continue to fight the cruel, antibiotic-led factory farm system, we will need some regular donations from like-minded people. Please consider a monthly subscription of £2/month and help us support a network of smaller scale, humane and healthy UK pig farms, local abattoirs and butchers.

“Our message is simple, we want to help bring an end to this dangerous, inhumane system. Vote for real farming over factory farming.”
