‘Meat, dairy and eggs produced with the misuse of antibiotics could still be making its way on to UK supermarket shelves, due to inadequate policies, according to a new report

This is a particular concern because the government is in trade talks with countries, like Australia, that use certain antibiotics for growth promotion, a practice that is banned in the UK.

Power of corporations to hijack COP 26

If global competition forces supermarkets to put profit over human well-being, we must exert the power of our purse through conscientious shopping choices and eating less but better meat.

Similarly consumer action is essential now that we know that the COP pledges are not sufficient to reduce emissions to limit global heating to 1.5 degrees Celsius, a figure scientists say is needed in order to avoid the most catastrophic consequences of the climate crisis. Based on current pledges, global temperatures are on track to rise 2.4 degrees Celsius above pre industrial levels.

Though earlier drafts of the COP deal called for coal to be “phased out” in the final agreement, nations agreed for it to only be “phased down.” Oil and gas was conveniently taken out of the text by the US and UK, while putting all the blame on India and China. Several interviews on Democracy Now! sum up the inaction;

“All they’re doing is pointing fingers at the Global South countries, erasing the accountability that they have and the historical exploitation and ongoing exploitation of the Global North. There has been no real progress in terms of loss and damages and climate finance and adaptation, and also definitely not in terms of drastic carbon dioxide emission cuts, as we see that there is a strong focus on carbon offsetting, which is really just an excuse to keep business as usual, to keep polluting and to keep killing people today”.

Corporations straightjacket politicians

Biden breaking his election campaign pledge to ban new federal fossil fuel leasing by claiming that his hands are tied, is proof of the corporate capture of our politicians – undermining their ability to regulate. As reported in Huffington Post

‘When President Joe Biden spoke about fossil fuels during a Democratic presidential debate in March 2020, he promised to “take on the fossil fuel industry” and rapidly transition the nation away from planet-warming fossil fuels.

“No more subsidies for [the] fossil fuel industry,” Biden said. “No more drilling on federal lands. No more drilling, including offshore. No ability for the oil industry to continue to drill, period.”

Environmental advocates say Biden is breaking that pledge now as the administration prepares to hold the largest offshore oil and gas lease sale in U.S. history on Nov. 17.

Philanthro capitalists – help or hindrance?

The Glasgow Pact calls on wealthy nations to double the amount of money they provide to developing nations to help them adapt to the climate crisis that largely they did not cause. However, be careful what you wish for when corporate billionaires control the finances allegedly going to help the ‘poor nations’.

With zero qualifications besides being a data nerd billionaire, the world’s second richest man, Bill Gates has poured his wealth into promoting himself as the spokesman for human survival in health, agriculture and most recently in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

His contribution of £200 million to match-fund the UK government’s commitment to fund new green technologies, secured him a platform at COP 26 equal to a head of state. There he reeled out his Green Revolution plans to leverage state subsidies for giant corporate owned high tech projects that he is financially invested in.

Gates’s Agriculture Innovation Mission for Climate (AIM), and Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), promote ‘climate-smart’ agriculture that replaces farmers’ traditional mixed farms with high-tech seeds and machines and synthetic fertilizer.

However, scientists who authored a report on nitrogen fertilizer said Bill Gates is “just plain wrong” when he says the only way to grow food is with synthetic fertilizers. Their research also suggests the climate impact of nitrogen fertilizers is much worse than previously estimated.

In Inter Press Service, Timothy A. Wise writes;

Africa is still not a large fertilizer user, with application rates low — about 15 kg/ha — but rising rapidly with the recent Green Revolution campaigns.

My research showed that in Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA)’s 13 focus countries, yields were not growing significantly and the number of undernourished people has increased 31%.

According to the new fertilizer research, AGRA is taking Africa in the wrong direction. Globally, the use of nitrogen fertilizer is projected to grow between 50% and 138% by 2050. Africa is projected to see at least a 300% increase in the next 30 years. It will be far greater if Gates has his way.

Crops need nitrogen and in many areas they can get most or all of what they need from improved agroecological farming. Globally, with improved nutrient management practices there could be a 48% reduction in synthetic fertilizer use with no reduction in cereal yields.

The scientists who authored the new report make three recommendations to reduce GHGs associated with N fertilizer use. All call into question Gates’ Green Revolution model for Africa:

• Select a model of agriculture that does not depend on synthetic fertilizers — intercropping with nitrogen-fixing crops has been shown to increase yields and improve soils.
• Reintegrate livestock into crop farming so more of the nutrients in manure are returned to the land — less than half are now.
• Limit the growth of industrial livestock production and consumption. Three-quarters of N fertilizer worldwide is used to produce livestock feed.

The science is clear: African farmers are right when they call the Green Revolution “climate-stupid agriculture.” ‘

Economic exploitation

As Linsey McGoey, Professor of Sociology at the University of Essex, UK, and author of No Such Thing as a Free Gift: The Gates Foundation and the Price of Philanthropy, explains:

“Philanthropy can and is being used deliberately to divert attention away from different forms of economic exploitation that underpin global inequality today.

The new ‘philanthrocapitalism’ threatens democracy by increasing the power of the corporate sector at the expense of the public sector organizations, which increasingly face budget squeezes, in part by excessively remunerating for-profit organizations to deliver public services that could be delivered more cheaply without private sector involvement.”

Propaganda machine

To spin his narrative, Gates funds lobbyists to run a sophisticated PR machine through the corporate-owned mainstream press, social media, and broadcast that he also funds. Sifting through over 30,000 grants in the company’s database, MintPress can reveal that the Gates Foundation has bankrolled hundreds of media outlets and ventures to the tune of at least $319 million;

If Gates represents a net negative force in world politics, why does he receive such good press? For starters, he makes sizable donations to a host of mainstream corporate media outlets.

Recipients of this cash include many of America’s most important news outlets, including CNN, NBC, NPR, PBS and The Atlantic. Gates also sponsors a myriad of influential foreign organizations, including the BBC, The Guardian, The Financial Times and The Daily Telegraph in the United Kingdom; prominent European newspapers such as Le Monde (France), Der Spiegel (Germany) and El País (Spain); as well as big global broadcasters like Al-Jazeera.

…….it does introduce a glaring conflict of interest whereby the very institutions we rely on to hold accountable one of the richest and most powerful men in the planet’s history are quietly being funded by him. This conflict of interest is one that corporate media have largely tried to ignore, while the supposedly altruistic philanthropist Gates just keeps getting richer, laughing all the way to the bank.’

How dangerous is Gates’ health program

Often those who don’t agree with Gates’s billions promoting agri-industry into every corner of the globe, also question the influence he is wielding over the global narrative on health. Any scientist, doctor, academic, politician, lawyer, union etc, however learned and acclaimed, who questions the benefits of coercing the world to accept an experimental vaccine, is censored. So the world is polarised between those who have swallowed the Kool-Aid and those who are standing up for their rights to decide what they put into their and their children’s bodies. Once divided, citizens are less likely to defeat the corporate tyranny.

Remember, William Casey, head of the CIA, in 1983 said; “We will know when our programme of disinformation is complete when everything Americans believe, is false”.

The danger of allowing money to give absolute power to an individual like Bill Gates is exposed in this article by Robert Kennedy Jr; American environmental attorney and author. Kennedy is a son of Robert F. Kennedy and nephew of former president John F. Kennedy. He is the president of the board of Waterkeeper Alliance, a non-profit environmental group that he co-founded in 1999.

Promising to eradicate Polio with $1.2 billion, Gates took control of India ‘s National Advisory Board (NAB) and mandated 50 polio vaccines (up from 5) to every child before age 5. Indian doctors blame the Gates campaign for a devastating vaccine-strain polio epidemic that paralyzed 496,000 children between 2000 and 2017. In 2017, the Indian Government dialled back Gates’ vaccine regimen and evicted Gates and his cronies from the NAB. Polio paralysis rates dropped precipitously. In 2017, the World Health Organization reluctantly admitted that the global polio explosion is predominantly vaccine strain, meaning it is coming from Gates’ Vaccine Program. The most frightening epidemics in Congo, the Philippines, and Afghanistan are all linked to Gates’ vaccines. By 2018, ¾ of global polio cases were from Gates’ vaccines.

In 2014, the #GatesFoundation funded tests of experimental HPV vaccines, developed by GSK and Merck, on 23,000 young girls in remote Indian provinces. Approximately 1,200 suffered severe side effects, including autoimmune and fertility disorders. Seven died. Indian government investigations charged that Gates funded researchers committed pervasive ethical violations: pressuring vulnerable village girls into the trial, bullying parents, forging consent forms, and refusing medical care to the injured girls. The case is now in the country’s Supreme Court.’

In 2010, the Gates Foundation funded a trial of a GSK’s experimental malaria vaccine, killing 151 African infants and causing serious adverse effects including paralysis, seizure, and febrile convulsions to 1,048 of the 5,049 children.

During Gates 2002 MenAfriVac Campaign in Sub-Saharan Africa, Gates operatives forcibly vaccinated thousands of African children against meningitis. Between 50-500 children developed paralysis. South African newspapers complained, “We are guinea pigs for drug makers”

Nelson Mandela’s former Senior Economist, Professor Patrick Bond, describes Gates’ philanthropic practices as “ruthless” and “immoral”.

In 2010, Gates committed $10 billion to the WHO promising to reduce population, in part, through new vaccines. A month later Gates told a Ted Talk that new vaccines “could reduce population”. In 2014, Kenya’s Catholic Doctors Association accused the WHO of chemically sterilizing millions of unwilling Kenyan women with a phony “tetanus” vaccine campaign.

Independent labs found the sterility formula in every vaccine tested.

After denying the charges, WHO finally admitted it had been developing the sterility vaccines for over a decade.

Similar accusations came from Tanzania, Nicaragua, Mexico and the Philippines.’
